Book I. Crossing the Rubicon. Synopsis & Prologue
Synopsis
This faction (fiction based on fact) autobiography focuses on the life of Johnny Roberts, a fictional character recruited into a covert shadow organisation.
Recruited after an unexpected involvement in a Black Op, he and his four colleagues, the survivors, had the choice of either joining or disappearing. They chose to join.
Under the watchful eye of his mentor, Johnny Roberts progresses within the group, which took an unexpected turn following an incident in Northern Ireland during the Troubles in 1970.
Captain G, Johnny Roberts' mentor, recognised him as a promising candidate to establish an organisation like the one operating in the shadows. However, the leader of that organisation considered him too young, prompting Johnny to undergo repeated trials to accelerate his growth and development with the project in mind. This continued until an incident occurred during his time in Cyprus amidst the Turkish invasion, which shocked the organisation, particularly its head.
Suddenly, Johnny Roberts emerged as the answer to a dilemma that the Head of the organisation had encountered and initially proposed two decades earlier. Captain G guided him in the right direction without disclosing to Johnny Roberts what was happening or plans awaited him.
Gradually, snippets of information are revealed as Johnny Roberts uncovers details about what was known only as the ‘Great Society.’
Nevertheless, Johnny Roberts embraces the concept and undertakes the task, oblivious to the outcome, as his boss anticipated.
One key point that surprised him was the necessity of recalling members of the organisation who had been stood down over the years—men and women who had spent significant portions of their lives living in the shadows.
The boss stated that their nation needs them. Under the new guise of Hypatians, within which will be the Geminos, those who have lived in duality, those who have done what needed to be done.
In this first book, Johnny Roberts evolves from a young, naïve marine into a man who discovers the meaning of life and death.
The Great Society still impacts many lives. As he progresses through Book Two, he will learn the true meaning of Duality. His life is turned upside down when he is redeployed through recruitment into the Metropolitan Police. He must change his entire nature to comply with the wishes of his unknown boss.
Book one flows into Book Two, carrying him through the police service, meeting royalty,
presidents, and the boss.
The books are a touch of Bond meets Special Forces meets the Holy Grail. The trilogy is the story of the rebirth of an ancient group, the Magna Societe, into the 21st century, told as an autobiography through the eyes of the young man who became the seed for that rebirth.
